The crumbling shabbiness of this paradoxical paradise is best epitomized by the Hermitage, a museum to rival the greatest of museums. The compilation of art works housed in the seat of power of the Romanov dynasty makes for a subliminal experience best taken in over the course of multiple visits; such is the variety and beauty underpinned in this house of wonders.
